Planning to travel by air for the first time? Here are the things you should know to prepare for your first journey.
Check Baggage Rules
You should check ahead of time with your airline or travel agent to determine the airline’s travel baggage policy. This includes the number of pieces you can bring as well as size and weight restrictions. You should avoid over-packing your travel luggage; the airport security screener should be able to easily reseal your bag if it is opened for inspection.
Most flights board approximately 30 minutes before takeoff – it may take from 15 minutes to 2 hours to check-in and go through security.
Check in Process
Most airlines close the check-in process at least 30 minutes before the flight so if you are checking baggage, plan to arrive at the airport in plenty of time.
Get in Your Seat and Power Down
When you board the aircraft, find your seat, place your carry-on in the overhead bin and sit down. Then you have to turn off your mobile device and wait patiently for the announcement from the flight crew that it’s safe to switch your approved electronic devices back on once again.
Bring a Sleep Kit
If you are taking a long flight then your own soft, a sleep kit can help you to rest a few hours on the flight. The basics for a sleep kit include a U-shaped travel pillow and an eye mask to block out sunbeams bouncing off the clouds below.
Download Music Offline
If you love your music and don’t want to sit through 24hrs of airline radio then an iPod or music player is a definite must-have accessory on a long flight. You can enjoy by listening your favourite playlists to release stress and pressure during the flight.
Check your bag tag number or name tag
Many bags are look like the same. So, don’t claim your bag only on appearance. You can report any problems to your airline before leaving the airport.
